For 26 April:
1 – We will not meet as it is Senior Symposium Day.
2 – Work on your Basin talks – let me know if you have questions.
For 19 April:
1 – Given the technology today and the prevalence of horizontal drilling and fracking – view the following for the drilling process.
This is a video brought to you by Chesapeake Energy.
2- Be sure to team up and choose a basin you will tell us about the last day of classes.
For 12 April:
1 – Read about well logs.
2 – What is a caliper log?
3 – What is a neutron log?
4 – What is a resistivity log?
5 – A Gamma Ray log?
Note the some of these span the Clinton Pay Zone for the well we visited and the handout in class – look this over and see if it makes sense to you. That’s your homework.
A good resource to answer these questions in the Schlumberger Glossary.
For 5 April:
1 – We will have an in-Van quiz on the way to Shreve Ohio.
2 – Know your oilfield terms.
3 – Become familiar with the Oil and Gas Well locator from the ODNR. This is where we will obtain information of individual wells.
4 – I have changed the syllabus – we will be giving presentations on individual oils fields on the last day of classes. Here are some suggestions – North Sea Oil, The Permian Basin (West Texas), the Paris Basin (Paris France), the Bakken Shale Play (North Dakota), The Athabasca Tar Sands (Alberta, CA), our own Clinton Sandstone and the Marcellus Shale Play, the deep basins of the Gulf of Mexico, Venezuela’s Oil fields, any others that may be of interest to you.
